Daniel Gallie at work in his studio

Daniel Gallie combines the beauty of crystals and precious stones to silver or gold. The precious metals are used to bind the stones, creating natural flowing structure.
My work is strongly influenced by the shapes found in nature. I use minerals in their natural forms; creating a fluid, organic and yet modern feel which often challenges conventional forms in jewellery.
I use the technique of “Cire Perdue”, the good plasticity of the wax allows the creation of endless shapes and good sculptural quality.
The wax is built around the stone in order to obtain a perfect and balanced setting. The waxes are cast in silver or gold. The shapes in metal are subsequently cleaned and polished. The setting of the stone then completes the piece.
